About The Position

The Department of Pathology at the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile is currently recruiting for a part-time BC/BE Pediatric pathologist. Alabama license is required. The opening is for an assistant/associate/full professor on a clinical track. The Division of Anatomic Pathology handles about 17,000 surgical and 4,500 cytology cases a year and it is expanding rapidly. The Division of Anatomic Pathology serves USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. The two hospitals are licensed for 550 beds combined. Molecular/next generation sequencing, cytogenetics, immunohistochemistry, FISH, and electron microscopy laboratories are part of the sophisticated menu of tests available. The Department has a combined residency training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 12 residents. Mobile is a growing, family-friendly city with a vibrant downtown. It is centrally located in the Gulf Coast with a temperate climate and low cost of living. There are many cultural and outdoor activities with proximity to river and sandy beaches.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Pediatric Pathologist.
  • Handle surgical and cytology cases.
  • Contribute to the Anatomic Pathology division serving USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute.
  • Participate in the combined residency training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
