Organization: MCC Rx Outpatient Interns Job Summary: Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control. Position Highlights Outpatient pediatric pharmacy at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Must be actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy in order to be considered. P1 and P2 students will be considered. Start date will be in May based on availability. Every 4th weekend both Saturday and Sunday within the hours of 7:00am and 11:00pm. Weekly 4-9 or 5-9 pm shift covering the pharmacy and meds to beds for the PACU. 1 holiday/year assigned. Additional learning opportunities each year based on level of education/experience.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy in order to be considered.
  • P1 and P2 students will be considered.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice)
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice)
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness)
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Fundamental Awareness)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
