About The Position

This role involves performing tasks within the pharmacy to directly support the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist, with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. The intern will also provide customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Additionally, the intern will apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy.
  • P1 and P2 students will be considered.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice)
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice)
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness)
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management (Fundamental Awareness)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
