About The Position

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking nurses for its Inpatient Units. This specific opportunity is for the Kay 4 night shift, supporting patients with hematology disorders or leukemia and lymphoma disease. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • BSN required with completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience.
  • St. Jude or other RN experience required.
  • Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
  • Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing.
  • Strong knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
  • Strong ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred as applicable.
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of care to pediatric patients with hematology disorders, leukemia, or lymphoma.
  • Work on the Kay 4 inpatient unit, focusing on patients enrolled in current protocol treatments.
  • Collaborate with scientists and other healthcare professionals in a bench-to-bedside environment.
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on a strong understanding of growth and development principles.
  • Assess and interpret age-specific data about patient status.
  • Utilize strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Participate in rotating holiday and weekend requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of research protocols.
