Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: Kay 4 nights
About The Position
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking dedicated nurses to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to bond with patients, collaborate with scientists, and be at the forefront of clinical breakthroughs for children with cancer, sickle cell, and other life-threatening diseases. The Kay 4 unit specifically supports patients with hematology disorders or leukemia and lymphoma disease. This is a night shift position on a 17-bed unit with small nurse-to-patient ratios, focusing on current protocol enrollments to revolutionize treatment. The position requires nurses with at least one year of experience, working 3 12-hour shifts with rotating holiday and weekend requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), required.
- BSN required with completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience.
- St. Jude or other RN experience required.
- Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
- Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing.
- Working knowledge of research protocols.
- Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
- Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal skills.
- Proven performance in earlier role.
- Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
- Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred as applicable.
- Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Caring for patients with hematology disorders or leukemia and lymphoma disease.
- Participating in current protocol enrollments that will revolutionize treatment for hematology and leukemia/lymphoma disease.
- Providing the highest quality of care.
- Assessing and interpreting age-specific data about the patient’s status.
- Providing care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
