About The Position

Provide occupational therapy to children with developmental delays and provide caregiver coaching and education on each child’s therapy program to parents and other professionals involved in child’s care. This role involves assessing functional skills, designing and implementing treatment plans, preparing progress reports, and maintaining accurate records. The therapist will also educate families on therapeutic interventions, assist with adaptive equipment, make referrals to community resources, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. Additionally, the position supports Medicaid programs through outreach, care planning, and coordination services. The role requires evaluating home, daycare, or school situations through site visits and coordinating enrollment/transitions into appropriate programs. Facilitating Individual Family Service Plan conferences is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Valid Washington State professional license
  • Looking for additional language proficiency with Spanish preferred
  • Experience and comfort with interacting with diverse populations
  • Infant feeding experience highly preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to demonstrate dependability and punctuality
  • Possess a valid Washington State DOH OT license or be in process of obtaining one
  • Demonstrate skill in word processing and familiarity with MS Word and Excel
  • Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Strictly maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Maintain valid unexpired proof of identity during employment
  • Pass tuberculosis test
  • Ability to show proof of current immunizations, including COVID-19 and MMR vaccine or titer test

Responsibilities

  • Assess each child's functional skills/abilities/challenges
  • Conduct formal evaluations of performance
  • Design and implement treatment plan in Center, home, or community childcare as needed
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Review medical reports
  • Seek medical referral, consultation, and advice as necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of contact for each child
  • Educate family/care givers in therapeutic interventions
  • Design and/or assist in developing and ordering adaptive equipment
  • Make referrals to appropriate community or Kindering programs, support groups, and other services
  • Assist in supervision of student therapists
  • Provide or support outreach, intensive informing, care planning, coordination, anticipatory guidance for complex health needs, assistance to access services, consultation, resource development, interagency coordination, training, program planning, quality management, and administration to support Medicaid programs
  • Evaluate home, daycare, or school situation through site visits if indicated
  • Participate in the development of each child's total program as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Coordinate enrollment/transitions into appropriate community or Kindering Center programs, support groups, and other services
  • Coordinate case management meetings with community agencies
  • Facilitate Individual Family Service Plan conference in cooperation with Family Resource Coordinator
