About The Position

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive patient assessments, both in-person and via telemedicine. They will identify health problems, develop and implement treatment plans, and offer clinical family planning services. This role involves reviewing patient charts, ensuring health maintenance, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Practitioner will also participate in the Pediatric 'On Call' schedule and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Compliance with Caring Health Center's standards and policies is required, along with the ability to use a computer and potentially work long hours.

Requirements

  • Current Massachusetts NP licensure and /or eligibility for certification.
  • Current Mass CSR and DEA licenses.
  • Certification in Pediatrics or certification in Family Practice with a special interest in pediatric & adolescent medicine.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, PAs and NPs, nursing staff, medical assistants, community health workers, nutritionists, social workers, and case managers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in ambulatory care and/or public health is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Nepali, Pashto, Dari, Swahili, or another language served at CHC.
  • Special expertise in provision of health care to underserved, culturally diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in assessment and delivery of family planning services to a diverse population.
  • Interest in developing and maintaining collaborations with outside institutions and agencies that play a critical role in a child and adolescent’s health, for example - schools and behavioral health agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive patient assessments - both in-person and via telemed, both audio and video.
  • Identifies potential and actual health and health-related problems, both acute and chronic, and together with patient and family / guardian, develops and implements treatment plans that include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic components.
  • Offers comprehensive clinical family planning services when appropriate.
  • Reviews patient charts and ensures health maintenance issues are addressed in a timely way and that appropriate treatment plans are developed and followed.
  • Completes all charts as soon as possible, but no later than 72 hours after the visit.
  • Collaborates and consults with CHC physicians and other providers as needed, especially in the care of more complex patients.
  • When deemed necessary, refers patients to appropriate specialists and other practitioners and facilities.
  • Participates in the Pediatric ‘On Call’ schedule.
  • Cooperates with efforts of CHC administration to monitor and improve the quality of patient care by evaluating patient outcomes.
  • Maintains updated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner guidelines as well as those developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Participates in peer review of charts.
  • Maintains all CME/CEU, Board and Licensing requirements of state and national governing Boards.
  • Requires compliance with Caring Health Center’s compliance standards including its Standard of Conduct, Compliance program, and policies and procedures.
  • Requires the ability to use a computer, work at a computer workstation, view a CRT and have some knowledge of a keyboard.
  • From time to time, it also requires the ability to work long and arduous hours.
