Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA accredited clinical psychology training program
  • An APA accredited, preferably hospital-based, internship
  • Completion of two years of formal postdoctoral specialty training in clinical neuropsychology with substantial background in pediatric neuropsychology and/or medical psychology
  • Washington State Licensure as a psychologist, or immediate eligibility for licensure required
  • Eligibility for, or completion of, board certification in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology preferred
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Conducts clinical interviews with patients and families from a variety of backgrounds with complex medical and neurological needs.
  • Supervises a psychometrist who administers and scores neuropsychological testing measures.
  • Interprets and summarizes neuropsychological test results in a succinct and approachable manner.
  • Utilizes test results and other sources of clinical information to provide psychological and neurodevelopmental diagnoses, when applicable.
  • Creates tailored recommendations that are appropriate for each patient and family based on presenting concerns and test outcomes.
  • Completes clinical documentation in Epic in a timely manner.
  • Clearly explains assessment results to families (and medical teams, when requested).
  • Provides consultation and brief screening of cognitive skills for patients during multidisciplinary medical clinics.
  • Specific clinics will likely include the Cancer Center’s Long-term Follow-up Clinic
  • Conducts testing (as needed) to support research through the Cancer Center (Children’s Oncology Group protocols)
  • Collaborates effectively with other team members to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Represents neuropsychology in hospital meetings that benefit from input about neurocognitive functioning, such as the Trauma Committee
  • Completes clinical documents in Epic in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains license and appropriate continuing education.
  • Adheres to MHS Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards, and maintains reliable attendance.
