About The Position

Abbott is a global healthcare leader focused on improving people's health through breakthrough science. The nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for all ages, including leading brands like Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna®. This Inside Sales Representative position in Columbus, Ohio, is a 12 to 24-month assignment designed to train and develop high-performing internal sales representatives for future roles in the Abbott Nutrition Field Sales organization. The role involves providing quality service and products to Abbott Nutrition customers, including physicians, registered dietitians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Inside sales representatives collaborate with the field sales force to drive business, build relationships with healthcare professionals through service, support, and education, and align with sales and marketing strategies. The representative must be willing to relocate to cities throughout the country for a Field Sales position, with relocation assistance provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferred in fields of Nutrition, Business, or Communication
  • A strong business acumen
  • Proven track record of success in product or relationship-based sales.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the drive to achieve beyond what is expected.
  • Excellent customer relationship building skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, persuasiveness and active listening skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and open to coaching and mentoring from others.
  • Initiative and strong planning and time management skills.
  • A strong interest in sales and the ability to meet or exceed sales and activity quotas.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and use of sales databases.
  • Ability to manage monthly budget responsibilities for product gratis and literature distribution.
  • Demonstrated Abbott Leadership Core Competencies as required.
  • Proactive self-starter, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and sales focused to expand the client relationship.
  • Enthusiasm and passion are a must!
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and adult nutritional products.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for selling Abbott Nutrition’s portfolio of products to various market segments.
  • Analyze facility needs, educate healthcare professionals about products and services to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Address unique customer needs, providing proper information and appropriate solutions.
  • Sell products ethically and in accordance with the company’s sales process and marketing strategy.
  • Make compelling and persuasive sales calls to designated customers.
  • Maximize revenue and market share of products in territory and achieve/exceed sales targets.
  • Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with existing Abbott customers during field territory vacancies.
  • Assist in the training and development of sales representatives.
  • Develop effective selling skills through prospecting, responding to inbound calls, or placing outbound calls to field customer account locations.
  • Implement and maintain the effectiveness of internal systems.
  • Manage a targeted number of healthcare facilities in accordance with sales direction.
  • Ensure positive influence on product decisions of healthcare professionals.
  • Comply with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and federal regulations concerning Abbott products.
  • Manage healthcare professional (HCP) concerns regarding products, patient education services, reimbursement issues, contract requirements, and continuing education.
  • Conduct sales presentations and distribute samples.
  • Manage a territory budget and utilize budgetary guidelines for maximum benefit to the customer and Abbott.
  • Expand client relationships through proactive self-starter approach, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and sales focus.
