About The Position

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to lead its established program at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. The position offers a week-on/week-off schedule with call from home, leaving 26 weeks off per year. The program has two Pediatric Hospitalists and covers a six-bed inpatient pediatric floor and emergency department consultations. A new six-bed Pediatric Suite opened in 2023, with plans to expand to eight beds. There is no nursery call or rounding; NICU coverage is separate.

Pediatric Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, and Gastroenterology specialists are available in town but do not provide inpatient coverage. Adult orthopedics and adult surgery are available for some toddlers and adolescents admitted to the inpatient unit, and UAB subspecialists can be consulted by phone. The role also offers academic collaboration with the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and participation in Southeast Health’s growing GME program.

• Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the established Pediatric Hospitalist program at Southeast Health.
