About The Position

Join the dedicated team at the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center in Austin, Texas. The role provides outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients. Outpatient work includes clinic, oversight of infusion room services, and managing calls from clinic staff, physicians, and families. Inpatient work includes daily rounds, handling evening calls from hospital staff, and coming in at night for acute needs when deemed necessary. The position also performs procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture when indicated in outpatient and inpatient settings, and maintains regulatory compliance with COG and institutional research study guidelines. Academic appointment and rank at Baylor College of Medicine will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree, or equivalent.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in pediatrics.
• Board certification in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics.
• Board eligibility or board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
• Five years of post-fellowship clinical experience.
• Eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients.
• Conduct clinic duties, oversee infusion room services, and manage calls from clinic staff, physicians, and families throughout the day.
• Provide inpatient care and participate in on-call duties, including daily rounds, handling evening calls from hospital staff, and coming in at night for acute needs as deemed necessary.
• Perform indicated procedures, including bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture, in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Maintain and complete regulatory requirements to comply with COG and institutional research study guidelines.
