About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) at Niswonger Children’s Hospital is seeking an additional full-time Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist to join the Tri-Cities St. Jude Affiliate Clinic. Niswonger Children’s Hospital is a 94-bed facility with a 44-bed NICU, 10-bed PICU, and serves as the primary pediatric teaching center for the region. ETSU's Quillen College of Medicine offers opportunities to participate in the education and training of medical students, pediatric residents, and family medicine residents. The pediatric hematology oncology clinic is an affiliate of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, providing quality care in a local environment with the research and expertise of St. Jude. The clinic sees approximately 3000 patients annually with 30-40 new oncology patients and serves as the regional hemophilia and thrombosis center. The catchment area includes East Tennessee, SW Virginia, and parts of West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina. The clinic is fully supported by a dedicated child life specialist, social worker, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist.

Requirements

  • Must be BC/BE in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the time of hire.

  • Ability to teach medical students and residents.
  • Ability to perform routine and customary care of the inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients.
