About The Position

Children with cancer and serious blood disorders need a physician who can move quickly, explain clearly, and stay with the family for the long course of care. In this role you will own diagnosis, treatment, and follow-through so more children complete therapy safely and return to school, play, and ordinary life. Your judgment sets the clinical standard for the service and is what families rely on when the news is hardest.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in pediatric hematology/oncology.
  • License and DEA eligibility, and ability to obtain hospital privileges.
  • A record of protocol-faithful care, toxicity management, or measurable program improvement.
  • Experience leading tumor board or multidisciplinary planning and speaking plainly with families under stress.
  • Working knowledge of cooperative-group or registry participation and of late-effects follow-up.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm diagnosis and risk group and start an evidence-based plan so newly referred patients begin definitive therapy without avoidable delay.
  • Lead multidisciplinary planning so each child has one coordinated course across oncology, surgery, radiation, pharmacy, nursing, and psychosocial care.
  • Direct chemotherapy, transfusion, and supportive care to meet protocol milestones while cutting preventable toxicity and unplanned admissions.
  • Build survivorship and transition follow-up that tracks late effects and moves adolescents to adult care without gaps.
  • Offer eligible patients appropriate clinical trials or registries and keep enrollment, consent, and data standards audit-ready.
  • Coach advanced practice providers and trainees so the service can grow volume without lowering safety or family communication.
  • Guide goals-of-care conversations, including palliative pathways, so treatment matches what the child and family can sustain.
