About The Position

The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics at MUSC is seeking a medical geneticist with specialized training in biochemical genetics to join their faculty. The role focuses on caring for individuals with inherited metabolic disorders and advancing therapies for rare diseases. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care across the lifespan, including newborn screening follow-up, diagnostic evaluations, long-term disease management, and multidisciplinary care. This position offers an opportunity to develop a career in rare disease care, precision medicine, and therapeutic innovation, with potential involvement in clinical trials and translational research.

Requirements

Medical Doctor or equivalent.
American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) board eligible/certified.
Licensed/eligible for license in South Carolina.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with metabolic and genetic disorders across the lifespan.
Conduct newborn screening follow-up.
Perform diagnostic evaluations.
Manage long-term disease management.
Participate in multidisciplinary care.
Participate in industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials.
Participate in natural history studies.
Participate in translational research.
Help implement novel therapies, including gene-targeted treatments.
