About The Position

The Division of Pediatric Dentistry at Denver Health is recruiting for a PRN/intermittent Pediatric Dentist to practice at multiple dental clinics across our Denver Health in Denver, CO. The Pediatric Dentist ("Dentist") under minimal supervision, provides primary and comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs. Diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue. Perform extractions, preventative and restorative dental work on pediatric and special needs patients. Provide instruction on brushing, flossing, the use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care. Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications. The Pediatric Dentist ("Dentist") under minimal supervision, provides primary and comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs.

Requirements

  • DDS-Dentist - JCNDE - Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology platforms, for example, the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose dental conditions.
  • Provide patients with proposed treatment plans and cost estimates.
  • Prepare diagnostic and treatment records.
  • Study diagnostic records such as medical or dental histories.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.
  • Determine appropriate dental procedures based on patient need including but not limited to: pulp treatment, including pulp capping and removal of pulp chamber remnants, Prepare and restore carious teeth with appropriate dental material, Extract erupted, impacted, infected, otherwise diseased teeth and, as indicated, for guidance and development of the dentition.
  • Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patient during procedure, orthodontic treatment and space maintenance.
  • Maintains charts and treatment plans and completes required reports.
  • Prepares charts and determines that most appropriate plan for treatment.
