About The Position

Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) has locations in Othello and the Central District. Services at the clinics include pediatric medical care, behavioral health, dental services, nutrition, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more. Since 1970, OBCC has worked to uphold the vision of community organizer Odessa Brown: to bring quality healthcare with dignity to children from birth to young adulthood in the Central District and south Seattle. We are seeking a dedicated Per Diem Pediatric Dentist to provide specialty pediatric dental care within the OBCC Othello Dental Clinic and its associated locations. In addition to delivering direct clinical care, this role offers a fulfilling opportunity to serve as a clinical attending, directly shaping the next generation of dental professionals through the supervision, training, and education of both pediatric and general practice dental residents.

Requirements

  • DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine).
  • Advanced training in a pediatric dentistry program accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on - Advanced Dental Education in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Previous experience in hospital Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Experience with medically compromised and developmentally delayed pediatric patients.
  • Additional education and/or experience in education and/or research.
  • Licensed Dentist in the State of Washington.
  • Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, Seattle Children’s Hospital medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums for pediatric patients (birth through age 15).
  • Provide preventative care, evaluate tooth and jaw development, fit dental appliances, and treat diseases of the nerve, pulp, and other oral tissues.
  • Act as a clinical attending to provide high-quality supervision, training, and education to pediatric and general practice dental residents, as well as other healthcare learners from various programs and the local community.
  • Maintain eligibility to become an affiliate faculty member of the University of Washington School of Dentistry in support of the University Pediatric Dentistry Residents.
  • May serve as the Deputy Chief of Clinical Operations, taking on responsibility for the daily operations and clinical flow of the dental clinic.
  • Coordinate shifts within the operating hours of Monday through Friday (7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) and Saturdays (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., urgent care by appointment).
  • Work alongside an integrated, multidisciplinary team of medical, behavioral health, nutrition, and rehabilitation professionals providing whole-patient care to our community's youth.
