About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) / North Carolina Children’s Hospital is seeking an exceptional Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist for a faculty appointment in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. This Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist will be committed to patient care, research, and education. This position is Open Rank, Open track, and salary will be commensurate with training, experience, and academic accomplishments. The North Carolina Children’s Hospital is a quaternary care medical center with a 20-bed multidisciplinary PICU and a 13 bed PCICU that admits over 1200 patients per year. We have active pediatric cardiothoracic, ECMO, burn, trauma, and organ transplantation programs. The Critical Care Medicine division maintains a fully accredited pediatric critical care medicine fellowship program. Our team includes 17 physicians, 6 advanced practice providers, 8 fellows, 2 research and 2 administrative support staff. The Department of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine is rich in hospital leadership including the UNC Health Chief Medical Informatics Officer, UNC Hospitals Chief Medical Officer, and Director of the Pediatric Residency Program. UNC offers ready access to collaborators in other clinical and basic science departments, global and public health, public policy and other expertise across campus. UNC is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) funded institution that offers support for clinical and translational researchers at all levels. This support includes seed funding, regulatory assistance, data management, drug/device development and grant preparation among other things.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience either working as a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist faculty member in an academic environment or post-fellowship training in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
