Pediatric Critical Care Physician - Intensivist
About The Position
Children's Mercy is seeking full-time intensivists to join its Division of Critical Care. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 43-bed multi-disciplinary unit admitting approximately 2200 patients annually, including complex medical and surgical populations. The PICU manages a wide variety of diagnoses such as sepsis, acute lung injury, multi-organ system failure, multi-system trauma, bone marrow and solid organ transplant, and acute neurological emergencies. The unit is equipped with advanced ventilatory support, renal replacement therapies, plasma exchange, and an active ECMO program. Clinical services are supported by pediatric residents, PICU hospitalists, APRNs, and fellows from the Division of Critical Care and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The ideal candidate will have training in a quaternary care ICU, experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, and a strong clinical background. Special consideration will be given to candidates with academic interests, advanced training, a strong Quality Improvement (QI) background, or clinical research experience. Faculty appointments are available through an affiliation with the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Requirements
- Training in a quaternary care ICU.
- Capability of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a busy clinical environment.
- Willingness to be vaccinated for seasonal influenza.
- Willingness to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella).
- Willingness to be vaccinated for tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) if not vaccinated since 2005.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with fellow employees, patients, parents, and visitors.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
