The Pediatric Clinical Assistant will complete required clinical duties when a patient is seen at the time of visit. This role involves setting up and assisting with procedures, coordinating special testing, and tracking patient results. The assistant must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, including the location and use of emergency equipment, and be able to demonstrate procedures to ensure patient safety in emergent situations and disaster plans. The role also ensures the smooth flow of the Department by maintaining orderliness and providing for patient safety. Reporting necessary information and unusual occurrences is crucial, as is participating in Quality Assurance activities and implementing changes based on QA or nationally recognized recommendations. Additionally, the assistant will help with front desk duties such as preparing charts, filing, answering phones, and making appointments when clinical duties are complete or as directed by the manager. Developing and maintaining good human relations skills is important. The role involves transporting medications, blood products, specimens, and urine samples, and properly preparing waste for pickup. Ordering food for patients and medical supplies are also responsibilities. Logging temperatures for the blanket warmer and medication refrigerator and reporting discrepancies is required. The patient area must be kept sanitized by cleaning equipment between patients. Finally, the assistant will support nurses with the overall care of patients.
