About The Position

The Child At Risk Evaluation (CARE) Team at Children's Hospital of Michigan is seeking a Pediatric Child Abuse Physician. This role is at the intersection of medicine, advocacy, and child protection, aiming to genuinely change outcomes for vulnerable patients and families. Requirements

  • Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatrics
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics
  • Academic experience including medical student, resident, or fellow precepting, curriculum development, and/or evaluation and skills assessment
  • Must be eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in Child Abuse and Maltreatment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient consultation and chart review of active and discharged cases
  • Outpatient follow-up for patients seen during inpatient consults
  • Coordination of referrals to community trauma-based therapy programs
  • Communication of medical findings to CPS, law enforcement, and other community partners
  • Court testimony as a medical expert in child maltreatment cases
  • Community education focused on child abuse recognition and impact
  • Teaching and precepting opportunities with medical students, residents, and pediatric emergency medicine fellows
  • Participation in local, state, and federal child advocacy initiatives
