About The Position

Under indirect supervision, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II provides high quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist in a professional manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role requires independent and efficient performance of clinical Pediatric Echo operations in the procedural setting while entering full preliminary reports. This role covers our Murrells Inlet clinic and can pick up at SJCH hospital and SMP clinics. This role organizes and prioritizes patient exams and contributes to unit teamwork.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, PE), or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Two years minimum pediatric echocardiography work experience in performing M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler, and color Doppler.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease, pre and post-operatively.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent).
  • Graduation from a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • 2-4 years of work experience.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Fetal Echocardiography (FE) preferred.
  • Associate of Arts/Science or a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Fetal Echo and research experience preferred.
  • Echocardiography experience in the setting of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab preferred.
