A Brief Overview
Responsibilities include audiological assessment and management of hearing loss for children. Additional responsibilities include providing consultation to medical, allied health and educational personnel and education/instruction to patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate. The audiologist also participates in the ongoing development, revision, and refinement of clinical procedures and protocols.

What you will do
Patient Care
1. Evaluation: Independently assesses hearing and/or vestibular function through the use of diagnostic tests and other appropriate procedures, in compliance with guidelines set by the department and regulating agencies.
2. Documentation and Communication: Independently interprets test findings with prompt dissemination of results using professional oral and written communication. Aids physicians and other providers in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral and central auditory disorders. Counsels patients and families, as well as other professionals regarding hearing loss and options for (re)habilitation including, but not limited to hearing technology, communication options and educational services through the use of outcomes measures and referrals to appropriate service providers.
3. Intervention: Independently develops recommendations for management of hearing loss in accordance with departmental protocols. Selects, modifies, and dispenses amplification systems, cochlear implants and other assistive devices when appropriate. Develops informational materials for families and professionals when appropriate.
4. Demonstrates comprehensive clinical competencies.
Administration
Participates in operational tasks as requested.
Participates in department quality improvement projects.
Troubleshoots and maintains clinical equipment as needed.
Participates in development of long- and short-term department goals.
Assists with patient coverage plans.
Education/Training and Research
Maintains/updates professional knowledge and skills by identifying own learning needs and by completing a minimum of 10 clock hours of continuing education during each fiscal and/or rating year.
Provides clinical observation opportunities and educational supervision to students, fellows/externs and/or training to other clinical staff, as assigned.
Conducts didactic sessions within the department/healthcare network, resident/fellow teaching programs, and/or professional/community organizations as requested.
Applies research to practice.

Requirements

• Master's Degree Audiology Required
• At least two (2) years Licensed experience Required
• Audiology License (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required
• Audiology License (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required
• Board Certification in Audiology - American Board of Audiology - upon hire - Required or Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) - upon hire - Required
• High level of analytical skill in order to work independently to identify and plan for the resolution of problems encountered in clinical and research duties. (Required proficiency)
• High level of skill in various audiological assessment procedures pertaining to the pediatric population. (Required proficiency)
• Fundamental research knowledge, including a general understanding of research methodology, design, and statistics. (Required proficiency)
• Interpersonal relationship skills to support effective communication with patients and families, as well as other medical professionals. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate Audiology Preferred
• At least one (1) year Licensed experience in a pediatric setting Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Preferred
