About The Position

Cedars-Sinai, ranked highly by US News & World Report, is seeking a Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join Beverly Anesthesiology, Inc. as the Section Director for Pediatric Anesthesiology. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a large, state-of-the-art academic medical center dedicated to patient care, research, education, and community programs. The Director will oversee the day-to-day administrative, clinical, and operational aspects of the Pediatric Anesthesiology section, ensuring high-quality and safe pediatric perioperative care, improving OR efficiency, and coordinating care across pediatric surgical services. This role involves aligning section activities with departmental and institutional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead routine administrative and clinical functions for the Pediatric Anesthesiology section, including oversight of clinical services, quality and safety, patient experience, personnel, scheduling, and productivity.
  • Establish annual section goals aligned with departmental and institutional priorities; track progress, and report outcomes.
  • Oversee provider coverage, daily scheduling, and assignments to ensure timely responsiveness, continuity of care, and equitable workload distribution.
  • Recommend appropriate staffing levels and competencies based on pediatric patient volumes, acuity, age-specific needs, and case mix; support recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Serve as the point of contact for operational escalations and collaborate with pediatric surgical and procedural teams to resolve real-time issues.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary leadership to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures guiding safe, high-quality pediatric anesthesia care across pre-op, intra-op, PACU, and non-OR anesthesia locations; communicate updates to anesthesia providers.
  • Standardize workflows, documentation, and equipment use where appropriate to reduce variation and enhance reliability.
  • Monitor quality and safety indicators; lead or participate in pediatric performance improvement initiatives with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review safety event reports and patient grievances; work with Patient Relations and participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) for issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission), including licensure, credentialing, documentation, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and feedback on professional performance for providers within the section; participate in FPPE/OPPE processes in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Recommend clinical privileges for section providers in partnership with departmental leadership and Medical Staff Services.
  • Support onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluations of anesthesia providers; contribute to succession planning for key roles.
  • Represent section interests in departmental and institutional meetings; present metrics and outcomes and drive transparency and accountability.
  • Provide Anesthesia Clinical Services.
  • Participates in teaching of house staff, fellows and students.
  • Participates in evaluation of the performance of fellows, residents, and students.
  • Participates in departmental and institutional committees in training, research and clinical process activities.
  • Participates in research activities.
