About The Position

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join their team. This role involves a Faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and practice within a care team model. The department performs 35,000-40,000 annual procedures and is expanding with a new patient tower opening in 2028. The position offers opportunities for research, clinical mentorship, quality improvement work, and advanced education programs. Requirements

  • Doctorate Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
  • Working knowledge of hospital policies, practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-making.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public.
  • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).
  • Medical License - in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and any states practicing in - upon hire - Required
  • Board Certification - Medical Sub/Specialty - - upon hire - Required
  • DEA License - - upon hire - Required

Nice To Haves

  • Additional application through the University of Pennsylvania will be required for Faculty appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative care for complex patients and cases across every possible surgical service.
  • Participate in research and clinical mentorship programs.
  • Engage in quality improvement work.
  • Contribute to education programs such as simulation boot camps, airway learning labs, and point of care ultrasound courses.
  • Collaborate within a care team model with faculty, CRNAs, fellows, and residents.
