Shriners Children’s Philadelphia is seeking a full-time board eligible/certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist to join its close-knit, mission-driven team. This position supports a highly specialized orthopedic surgical program within a small, established group of three anesthesiologists. The anesthesiologist will provide care across a focused yet diverse case mix, primarily orthopedic procedures including spine, hand, and lower extremity, along with select plastics and urology cases. The pediatric patient population often presents with complex conditions requiring thoughtful, specialized anesthetic management. Responsibilities extend across the perioperative continuum, including preoperative case review in coordination with pre-admission testing advanced practice nurses. While procedural sedation outside the OR is infrequent, the role includes management of complex airways and occasional support as a backup resource for ICU cases. Strong regional anesthesia skills and experience in acute pain management are essential. The team operates within a collaborative MD-CRNA care model, with physicians typically supervising up to two CRNAs. The practice includes three operating rooms and six pre-op/PACU bays, supporting an efficient and coordinated workflow. The schedule is consistent, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with one dedicated flex day each week for administrative or research activities. Call is shared equally among the three anesthesiologists (approximately every third night), taken from home, with no emergent overnight cases—supporting a predictable and manageable work-life balance. Although not a formal academic role, the hospital offers optional research opportunities supported by active programs and a dedicated clinical research coordinator. As part of a nonprofit, mission-driven organization, physicians may also participate in international outreach initiatives, including mission work abroad. Compensation ranges from $494,936 to $635,000 and is determined by years of post-fellowship experience and internal equity.
