Pearl Innovation District Intern

American Addiction CentersCharlotte, NC
$19 - $28Hybrid

About The Position

The Pearl is Charlotte's innovation district bringing together healthcare, education, research, technology, entrepreneurship, workforce pathways, and community partnerships in one shared ecosystem. Through the Pearl Innovation Fellows experience, interns will be placed in focused roles across The Pearl and its partner departments, gaining direct exposure to the day-to-day work of innovation, operations, biotechnology, medical technology, artificial intelligence, and community impact. Fellows will take a deep dive into their assigned placement while also participating as part of a broader cohort coordinated by The Pearl's Education and Innovation Partnerships department. Through regular debriefs, reflection sessions, and professional learning opportunities, fellows will connect what they are learning in their placements to the broader innovation district and the future of health. Pearl Innovation Fellows may be placed with Pearl departments, partner organizations, or specialized roles that highlight unique components of the innovation district. While fellows may be embedded in a host department or partner organization for their day-to-day, placement experience, the cohort experience, reflection sessions, and overall fellowship experience will be coordinated and supported by The Pearl's Education and Innovation Partnerships team. Fellows will come together regularly as a cohort to share what they are learning, explore connections across placements, and better understand how different fields, partners, and systems work together to shape the future of health. At the conclusion of the fellowship, each fellow may complete a brief final reflection, presentation, or showcase artifact that highlights what they learned through their placement and how the experience informs their future career interests. The Operations Fellow will support and learn about the day-to-day operational needs that help The Pearl function as an active innovation district and learning environment. This placement will provide exposure to logistics, space coordination, scheduling, materials management, partner support, real estate, marketing, and the behind-the-scenes systems and people that make creating the district, programs, visits, and events run smoothly.
