About The Position

Madison City Schools prioritizes a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Employees are expected to model professional conduct, maintain clear and appropriate boundaries with students, use district-approved channels for communications, and avoid interactions that could be perceived as favoritism, grooming, or undue familiarity. Staff must promptly report suspected child abuse or neglect to law enforcement authorities as required by Alabama law. Compliance with these expectations is a condition of employment. This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred
  • At least eighteen years of age
  • Valid Alabama driver's license
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Participates in daily and long- range planning
  • Prepares classroom materials and develops activities
  • Conducts activities with individuals and small groups
  • Assists in preparing class displays and bulletin boards
  • Assists in caring for and securing classroom equipment and supplies
  • Assists in duties related to assigned area of physical education
  • Assists with classroom management
  • Assists with clerical work, projects and programs, special events and field trips
  • Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students
  • Maintains professional ethics
