In this position, IPTSE Ongoing Product Development (OPD) is part of Ford Motor Company’s Product Development Quality organization. OPD engineers are responsible for identifying, containing and resolving ongoing quality issues after product launch. OPD engineers will work closely with the propulsion design teams, calibration, manufacturing, plant vehicle teams and core quality. This position is part of a team responsible for IPTSE (Internal Combustion Engine - Propulsion - Thermal Systems Engineering) F4 functions including base engine, cooling system, fuel system, AIS, mounts, exhaust and climate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing or Systems Engineering
  • Proficient in English

  • Master's degree in engineering
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with solid understanding of problem-solving methodologies
  • Excellent leadership and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Contain and resolve ongoing low time in service (LTIS) quality issues past product launch.
  • Prioritize ongoing and emerging issues using leading and lagging indicator data and analysis.
  • Manage weekly warranty claims for low time in service (0 – 3 MIS) engine system components and work with propulsion team to triage top issues.
  • Define and investigate issues by developing trends based on vehicle line, time in service, operating conditions, locations and other critical factors.
  • Participate/lead cross-functional teams through root cause, corrective action and prevent reoccurrence actions.
  • Conduct prevent reoccurrence action (PRA) read across to other programs. Implement PRAs as appropriate.
  • Support plant containment actions including quality holds and stop ships.
  • Partner with functional quality personnel to lead emerging and ongoing issue discussions in propulsion (engine, induction, exhaust), fuel and thermal system quality meetings.
  • Attend working level manufacturing and product quality meetings.
  • Work with service to support efforts to reduce the cost per repair.
