About The Position

The Pediatric Care Technician (PCT)/Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is an unlicensed multi skilled worker who supports both patient care and non patient care activities for the patient. Responsibilities include performing specific nursing tasks and support functions as delegated by a licensed provider while supervised by a Registered Nurse, providing clerical support to the unit staff and physicians, coordinating referrals, and managing the patient medical records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (required)
• Program Graduate of a patient care program (i.e. MA, CNA, EMT) (required) Or Program One semester of an RN or LVN program (required) Or Equivalent Two years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program or nursing program requirement (required) Or Equivalent Current Valley Children's Pediatric Nurse Extern (required)
• BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)

Nice To Haves

• CHUC - Certified Health Unit Coordinator - NAHUC - National Association of Health Unit Coordinators (preferred)
• Minimum six (6) months Providing direct patient care (preferred)
• Medical terminology skills preferred
• Bilingual Skills Preferred
