This is a full-time, regular position with a 40-hour work week, working a rotating shift. The role involves providing approved care to assigned patients and assisting in the implementation of interventions under the supervision of an RN. Responsibilities include supervising and assisting patients with daily living activities, supervising developmentally appropriate activities, offering assistance to co-workers, using crisis control techniques, assisting in de-escalation, and patient transport. The position may also involve 1 on 1 patient observation as needed. The PCA is expected to demonstrate Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors, report patient status changes, complete timely documentation, seek guidance when needed, and discuss concerns with the Director or designee. The role also ensures that work areas are organized, safe, accessible, effective, and efficient, complying with Infection Control and safety procedures. Additionally, the PCA responds to communication systems/patient alarms with urgency, answers telephones according to etiquette, assembles charts, orders supplies, and may assist in training new employees.
