About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a key member of the clinical care team on the Neuro Stepdown unit at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego (Hillcrest). The PCA provides excellent service to patients by assisting with personal needs and activities of daily living, collecting data, and maintaining a safe, organized patient environment. The role assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under the direction of a clinician. It also supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical tasks, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation.
Requirements
- One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
- Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.
Nice To Haves
- CNA certification.
- At least 6 months of CNA experience is preferred.
