About The Position

The PBX Operator is responsible for answering and screening incoming internal and external calls, providing callers with information, and directing calls to the appropriate departments. This role also involves monitoring emergency and priority phone lines, responding immediately to urgent communications, and dispatching security and facilities personnel via radio communication systems. The operator will announce emergency codes and important notifications overhead throughout the hospital, monitor security alarms, cameras, and communication systems, and coordinate with hospital staff while following established hospital communication protocols.

Comfortable handling difficult or upset callers
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Must be available to work weekends

Nice To Haves

Comprehensive PBX training provided
Approximately 4–6 weeks of full-time training
Training includes phone systems, emergency paging procedures, code announcements, and hospital communication protocols
Emergency code announcements are considered the most challenging part of the role and require significant practice
