About The Position

This is a part-time position responsible for supporting departmental efficiencies. Key duties include greeting customers according to Conifer standards, providing excellent customer service, handling inbound and outbound calls, operating the PBX system, performing basic registration data entry, and explaining and securing important hospital and patient legal forms. The role also involves scanning Protected Health Information and organizing patient information packets.

Requirements

  • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer
  • Customer service skills and experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications
  • Course in Medical Terminology required
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with both internal and external Clients that lead to more effective communication and a higher level of productivity and accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred
  • Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements preferred
  • Understanding of Compliance standards preferred
  • 0 – 1 year administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area preferred
  • Some college coursework is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers following Conifer Standards of Care, providing world-class customer service, executing reception/basic demographic Quick Registration data entry, placing & verifying patient armbands, completing patient demographic forms, adhering to financial & cash control policies & procedures, thoroughly explaining and securing Hospital & patient legal forms (i.e., Advance Directives, Conditions of services, Consent for treatment, Important Message from Medicare, EMTALA, etc.).
  • Answering inbound & outbound phone calls, performing private branch exchange (PBX) telephone system operator functions in adherence to Hospital policies & protocols.
  • Scanning Protected Health Information, creating and filing patient information packets/folders for upcoming Hospital services.
  • Using proper negotiation techniques to professionally collect money owed by Patients/Guarantors.
  • Resolving Physician's office and Patient issues. May experience extreme patient volumes and uncooperative Patients.
