About The Position

The PB Tooling Gel Coater Technician will be responsible for successfully spraying prepared plugs and master patterns for the plug/master prep and mold lamination teams, while maintaining schedule and quality. This role requires a thorough understanding of gelcoat/high-build component coating equipment, spray booth operation, and quality assurance equipment. The technician must be able to work efficiently and safely in a boatyard environment.

Requirements

• General knowledge and understanding of required power tools.
• Must be able to understand and execute top quality.
• Must be able to pass the strength/stress test and drug/alcohol screening.
• Job requires standing and working in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day.
• Must work efficiently and in the safest manner possible, following all safety regulations at all times.
• Fully understand gelcoat/high-build component coating equipment maintenance and use.
• Spray booth operation and maintenance.
• Use of quality assurance equipment, mil gauge, etc.
• Composite fabrication.
• Spot repair techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily tests for equipment calibration and operation.
• Tape and prepare plugs and master patterns for spraying.
• Ensure plugs and masters are clean with no contaminants before spraying.
• Set up, operate, and shut down gelcoat/high-build guns and pumps.
• Clean spray guns.
• Spray gelcoat in an even mil thickness, knowing each part’s mil requirements.
• Maintain all booths and equipment clean, neat, and organized at all times.
• Conduct daily routine maintenance of booths and equipment.
• Record material date and batch numbers.
• Ensure all operations are performed safely.
• Store all materials safely at the end of the day.
• Conduct operations using TDC mold fabrication approved processes (ISPC).
