About The Position

Payroll processes employee salaries, wages, benefits and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Maintain payroll records in accordance with laws. With payroll basic accounting responsibilities are expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Three plus years' experience in general accounting/Payroll
  • MS Excel proficiency (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Knowledge of an ERP system and other systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to assume varied responsibilities of increasing difficulty
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP, Payroll and tax regulations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and the ability to take direction.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and recommend process improvement changes.
  • High level of integrity and trustworthiness

Responsibilities

  • Process high volume weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Processes payroll updates including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and benefit elections in accordance with established timelines.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, hour, and tax regulations.
  • Assists with employee benefits administration and provides operational support during the annual open enrollment process.
  • Perform the recording and reconciliation process for all payroll and benefit activity.
  • Calculate and record payroll and related accruals each month.
  • Research, analyze and document all payroll and benefit variances by division, department and position for dollar and headcount. Explain budge to actual variances, as well as mouth-to-mouth variance.
  • Verify accuracy of documentation and balances.
  • Process Quarterly 941’s and all related payroll returns.
  • Processes W-2s and 1099s annually, ensuring compliance with IRS and state regulations.
  • Supports internal and external audits by providing required payroll and benefits documentation, including investigating and resolving audit findings.
  • Complete assigned accounting projects.
  • Process transactions and update ledgers.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare complex journal entries, reports, and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Financial reporting for multiple divisions.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership team.
