About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Technician to join our team in our Escondido, CA office! The Payroll Technician will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse portfolio of PEO clients. This role will manage daily payroll data entry and processing, provide accurate and timely payroll information, and ensure payroll is completed efficiently and in accordance with established requirements. The Payroll Technician will also play a key role in delivering exceptional service and support to our clients.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ of payroll technician experience
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as record keeping and filing
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily payroll department operations
  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validates confirmed reports
  • Understands proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Processes correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Processes accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
  • Other duties may be assigned as need by management
