About The Position

Crown Equipment Corporation is a leading innovator in world-class forklift and material handling equipment and technology. As one of the world’s largest lift truck manufacturers, we are committed to providing the customer with the safest, most efficient and ergonomic lift truck possible to lower their total cost of ownership. This role involves preparing, processing, and paying US payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with government laws and regulations. The specialist will collaborate with HRIS to test and apply tax updates, maintain payroll tax information, and support Payroll Associates with bi-weekly payroll processing. Responsibilities also include responding to employee inquiries, resolving payroll issues, and maintaining confidentiality. Additionally, the role requires reconciling and reporting payroll-related wages and withholdings, auditing payroll taxes, and reconciling payroll liabilities using general ledger detail.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years related experience
  • Associate degree (Accounting)
  • Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. This is not a position for which sponsorship will be provided. Individuals with temporary visas or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.

  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state tax reporting and payroll processes.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and pay US payroll taxes according to government laws and regulations.
  • Remain compliant with government regulations and company policies through continuous education and research.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to review and test up-coming tax updates and ensure they get applied timely to payroll software.
  • Maintain tax forms and information on Payroll’s intranet site.
  • Assist Payroll Associates with processing biweekly payroll which includes, but is not limited to, reviewing, adjusting hours, commissions, short term disability payments, and absences.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and supervisors regarding deductions, payments, allowances, or discrepancies in pay.
  • Research and resolve issues pertaining to all areas of payroll.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect data by keeping information confidential.
  • Reconcile and report Automatic Clearing House (ACH), garnishments, 401k and other payroll related wages and withholdings.
  • Reconcile payroll liabilities using general ledger detail.
  • Audit payroll taxes throughout the year to confirm employee taxable gross and withholdings are accurate.
