Requirements

  • A high school diploma with one (1) year of payroll experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including a ten-key by touch, copier, fax machine, check signing machine, shredder and bursting machine.
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Process mail on a daily basis.
  • Answer phones and assists employees with inquiries.
  • File and scan records into an electronic format.
  • Update and track vacation hours.
  • Sort and distribute payroll checks.
  • Process and pay garnishments in a timely manner.
  • Assist Payroll Supervisor with quarterly and year end processing.
  • Assist with writing payroll procedures as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
