About The Position

Southern Careers Institute (SCI) is seeking a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to process and manage the company’s payroll. This position offers a competitive base salary plus incentive compensation.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a related field or 2-3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong knowledge Payroll, HR, Benefits management systems – Ceridian / Dayforce preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; specifically Excel and it’s advanced functions
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong verbal communication, written communication, listening, record keeping and information management

Responsibilities

Compile payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, and insurance to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records
Prepare computer input forms, enter data into computer files, or compute wages and deductions and post to payroll records
Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
Prepare and issue paychecks
Review and approve payroll deductions
Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
Coordinate employee benefits enrollment and deductions with HR benefits coordinator
Ensure ongoing coordination with HR to properly capture correct pay for New Hires and Terminations
