About The Position

The Payroll Specialist gathers, enters, audits, administers and maintains the organization's payroll records of more than 1500 exempt and non-exempt multi-site employees by planning, implementing, and evaluating payroll policies, programs, and practices.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of payroll administration
  • Complete understanding of payroll principals as detailed by IRS, state and federal guidelines
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in diverse environments
  • Ability to utilize strong organizational skills
  • 3+ years of experience administering payroll process for 500+ Exempt and Non-exempt employees in an automotive dealership multi-location setting
  • Computer literate with knowledge in payroll systems (ADP required), Word, Excel, Outlook, and multiple vendors sites
  • Must be able to handle demanding situations
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Ability to collaborate with the public
  • Ability to collaborate with other dealership personnel
  • Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Nice To Haves

  • Bookkeeping and/or general accounting background helpful
  • Familiarity with dealership systems helpful (Tekion, CDK, Reynolds, etc.)
  • Flexible

Responsibilities

  • Gather and input payroll data from timesheets, commission reports and production/technician records into ADP payroll system on a weekly basis
  • Calculate and record voluntary payroll deductions
  • Process requests for manual checks, cash and accounts receivable adjustments
  • Administer wage garnishments through payroll vendor and follow-up
  • Review, verify and balance payroll batches to ensure accuracy of payment to employees
  • Post specific payroll information to General Ledger and third party vendors
  • Maintain accurate records of paid time off and vacation requests on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
  • Maintain the integrity of employee records by ongoing organizing and filing
  • Create standard and adhoc reports for departmental review using HRIS database
  • Establish and maintain compliance with federal and state payroll guidelines (FLSA)
  • Preserve integrity of employee files and employee information
  • Be an ambassador for the employee, department and company
  • Provide outstanding customer service to employees by answering questions and troubleshooting payroll issues and concerns
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Assist Controller and General Manager as needed
