Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will perform daily payroll department operations ensuring payroll is processed on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, payroll taxes and internal controls
• Strong analytical and problem- solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software eg. Paylocity, Paycor, ADP,
• High degree of professionalism and ability to secure and protect confidential information
• Associates degree is preferred but will consider some postsecondary education as commensurate
• Three years of experience in accounting with at least one year of experience in payroll preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
• Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
• Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
• Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
• Generates records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits and reports
• Team player with willingness to assist other Finance team member when requested
• Performs other duties as assigned within the Finance Department
