Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred; some college-level accounting, business or related-field courses preferred.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience processing payroll required.
  • Payroll software experience required.
  • Analyzing information, attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness, and general math skills required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
  • Organizational skills, time management, and demonstrated competency in Excel required.
  • Computer skills, including 10-key required.
  • Valid drivers’ license and insurance required.
  • Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads payroll operations by following established policies and procedures and keeping information confidential.
  • Leads routine audit processes to verify timecard information for accuracy and completeness of hours and selected pay codes.
  • Maintains payroll information to include, calculating and entering data and adjusting for retroactive pay, employee bonuses, and continuing education pay.
  • Oversees garnishments of wages and payroll in arrears.
  • Leads the calculation of payroll and prepares the payroll general ledger entry.
  • Coordinates payroll liabilities, payments, and related account reconciliations with accounting staff.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and answering staff questions.
  • Processes accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Prepares reporting and responds to auditor requests in support of various audits.
  • Supports payroll staff by providing training and reviewing their work for accuracy.
  • Performs other duties assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
