About The Position

Florida SouthWestern State College is seeking a Payroll Specialist II to join their Payroll team. This role involves advanced technical and professional work in the Office of Payroll Services, focusing on specialized accounting tasks. The position requires a thorough understanding of federal and state laws, as well as College policies and procedures, to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee wages and compensation. The Payroll Specialist II is expected to have extensive knowledge of FSW’s Payroll Services and will handle complex tasks requiring independent judgment, planning, coordination, and adherence to strict deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Three (3) years of recent full-time professional related work experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
  • At least one (1) year full-time experience as Payroll Specialist I in the FSW Payroll Services office.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll accounting.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws relating to payroll accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel independently to other locations for College business.
