About The Position

We are an office of 150 professionals mandated by the Auditor General Act to examine and report publicly on the Government of Alberta’s management of the public resources. We report directly to the 87 Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, and through them, we serve the more than five million people who call Alberta home. We are the auditors of the province’s consolidated financial statements, and most provincial agencies, boards, commissions, and regulated funds. We audit so that we can report on how well the government is managing its responsibilities and the province’s resources. We provide independent assurance to Albertans that public money is properly accounted for and provides value. Reporting to a Human Resources Manager and having a “dotted line” report to the Payroll Services Lead, the Payroll Services Specialist supports pay and benefits services for approximately 150 opted out and excluded salary, wage, contract, bargaining unit-excluded, and management employees. Using the SAP-based 1GX HCM payroll and reporting systems as well as Tenrox time administration and related systems and software, you’ll process end-to-end payroll transactions including maintaining accurate employee records, handling employee inquiries, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and Government of Alberta directives, regulations, and Acts. This role supports Human Resources processes related to commencements, promotions, transfers, classification changes, leaves of absence, and terminations. At the OAG, you’ll have the opportunity to experience all aspects of pay and benefits and time and leaves, from onboarding to termination. Problem solving, time management, and your demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships will allow you to effectively perform the duties of this role.
