About The Position

The Department of Administrative Services is seeking a Payroll Processor to join their Accounting team. This role involves completing payroll processing for approximately 92 bi-weekly batches and 30 monthly, processing interims for corrections, and assisting payroll processors statewide with payroll processing questions. This position also serves as a backup to the garnishment position and involves processing payments to vendors that were deducted from employees' paychecks.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years’ experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.
  • Mastery of office software, Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of laws of payroll processing.
  • Excellent inter-office communications.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in payroll processing, preparing period, quarter, and annual payroll taxes.
  • Experience and proficiency with the Enterprise One system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the processing of garnishments for State employees.
  • Finalize both the monthly and bi-weekly payroll for all State agencies.
  • Prepare the related payroll taxes for the State systems.
  • Process interims (emergency payment requests) and maintain the data integrity for the payroll section of Enterprise One.
  • Assist agencies with questions on processing their payrolls and resolving errors in initial payroll processing.
  • Receive, review, and process legal and court notices regarding State employee garnishments and maintain garnishment files and respond to garnishment questions as needed.
  • Process the quarterly 941 tax report and the annual W-3 form.
  • Monitor help desk tickets and provide support and training to end users experiencing payroll problems.
  • Other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
