About The Position

Join our team as a Payroll Specialist, where you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing across Canada while supporting payroll operations throughout North America. This position combines payroll expertise, financial reconciliation, audit support, and process improvement responsibilities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and a passion for delivering accurate and efficient payroll services.

Requirements

  • Experience processing Canadian payroll in a large, multi-province environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, year-end processing, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll and/or Workday HCM.
  • Experience supporting U.S. payroll operations.
  • Experience with payroll funding, treasury support, or payroll accounting reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting SOX controls, internal audits, or external audits.
  • Experience with payroll reporting, data validation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder partnership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process and validate bi-weekly and off-cycle Canadian payrolls in compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and processing of earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, garnishments, and other payroll transactions.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
  • Monitor compliance with CRA requirements and applicable Canadian payroll legislation.
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile payroll funding requirements for both Canadian and U.S. payrolls.
  • Perform payroll account reconciliations and investigate funding and payroll variances.
  • Partner with Treasury, Accounting, and Payroll Operations to support accurate and timely payroll funding.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll reconciliation activities.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, preparing documentation, reports, and supporting evidence.
  • Support SOX compliance activities, payroll controls, and process documentation.
  • Assist with payroll system testing, regulatory updates, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and compliance.
