About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform payroll and personnel duties, to provide support to employees as needed, and to provide lead guidance, direction and training to assigned staff. This role involves performing payroll duties such as reviewing and entering timesheets, monitoring records, and making corrections. It also includes performing personnel duties, educating staff on policies, and assisting management with technical and administrative issues. The position also handles Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, processes leave requests, and maintains related documentation. Additionally, it involves performing insurance duties, responding to disputes, processing employee documents, and working with insurance vendors. The role serves as a primary contact with Human Resources, Payroll, Information Technology, and Workers’ Compensation, and approves adjustments or corrections for work/leave time or Workers’ Compensation, while monitoring employee injuries and exposure reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years of experience in payroll, insurance or human resources
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-hire assessment (Filing, Spelling, Math, Data Entry)
  • Must pass a background investigation
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical
  • Must pass a drug/alcohol screen

Responsibilities

  • Performs payroll duties; reviews and enters timesheets into timekeeping system; monitors and maintains time sheet records and leave reports; prints and reviews payroll registers; and makes corrections and submits to payroll office.
  • Performs personnel duties; educates staff on payroll/personnel policies and procedures; and assists management and supervisors with technical and administrative issues.
  • Prepares Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests; processes FMLA and Donation of Leave requests; ensures leave is used as approved; and maintains related documentation and records.
  • Performs insurance duties; receives and responds to disputes relating to benefit eligibility; processes employee documents concerning benefits; and works with various insurance vendors.
  • Serves as a primary contact with Human Resources, Payroll, Information Technology and Workers’ Compensation on a variety of payroll/personnel processing matters.
  • Approves adjustments or corrections for work/leave time or Workers’ Compensation; and monitors employees on- the-job injuries and exposure reports.
