About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a growing organization. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across a multi-state workforce while driving process improvements and supporting broader HR/Finance initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, UKG, Paylocity, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality

Nice To Haves

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
Experience supporting large or rapidly growing employee populations
Exposure to benefits administration and HRIS integration
Experience in industries such as professional services, government contracting, or multi-entity environments

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle payroll processing on a bi-weekly/semi-monthly basis for multi-state employees
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings and reporting
Lead payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end activities (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
Oversee payroll systems administration, maintenance, and enhancements
Partner with HR and Finance to ensure seamless integration of payroll data (benefits, bonuses, commissions, etc.)
Manage and mentor payroll staff (if applicable), providing training and development
Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and process standardization
Support external audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries
