C3 AI is seeking a Payroll Manager to join our team at our Redwood City offices. In this role, you will be highly involved in various aspects of the payroll process and initiatives. We seek a hands-on, self-motivated individual with experience thriving in high-growth environments. Reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Manager, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact within our organization. Please note that this position is full-time and located onsite at our Redwood City office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience processing multi-state U.S. payroll.
  • Experience administering equity compensation (ESPP, stock option exercises, RSU vesting).
  • Experience with international payroll processing or oversight.
  • Experience working in a high-growth company, preferably in the software industry.
  • Proficiency in daily tasks with adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite Payroll is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly, multi-state US payroll, including medical benefits, FSA, ESPP, 401(k) contributions, and loans.
  • Oversee and process international payroll, coordinating with local vendors or PEOs as needed.
  • Manage daily stock activities such as exercise and vesting.
  • Work closely with the HR team on employee matters including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and other changes affecting payroll.
  • Maintain payroll operations by ensuring compliance with established company procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries, assist with GL account reconciliations and flux analyses for month-end close, along with other GL and compliance-related finance team requests as needed.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX requests.
  • Serve as a backup for payroll processing in the absence of other payroll team members.
  • Act as the point of contact for payroll-related questions and inquiries.
  • Assist with ad hoc requests, including 401(k) audits, workers' comp audits, insurance renewals, benefits requests, and payroll cash flow reporting.
