About The Position

An hourly garnishment specialist reviews legal withholding orders, calculates precise employee wage deductions, and ensures timely agency remittances. They maintain compliance with federal and state laws while serving as a primary contact for employee and court inquiries on behalf of HHS.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years working in payroll or specialized garnishment processing.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Workday, and Google products like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
  • High attention to detail, strict data confidentiality, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamentals of Payroll (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, and set up new court orders, child support, tax levies, and creditor claims into the payroll system.
  • Remit payments to ensure accurate and timely transfer of funds to courts, agencies, and creditors.
  • Ensure all calculations strictly follow federal, state, and local withholding limits and timelines.
  • Answer inquiries and provide customer support to employees, courts, legal teams, and government agencies.
  • Investigate calculation errors, fix automation failures, submit garnishment refunds for processing, and adjust future deductions.
